Peer Overdose Response Team (QRT)

Peer Overdose Response Team (QRT)

When someone experiences an overdose, what they often need most is understanding, support, and hope from someone who truly gets it. That’s why Serenity House Communities created PORT – the Peer Overdose Response Team. Unlike traditional crisis-based models, PORT is developed, managed, and led entirely by individuals with lived experience of substance use and overdose. This unique, peer-driven approach allows us to connect on a deeper level—offering trust, empathy, and empowerment to those navigating one of the most vulnerable moments of their lives.

  • Post-Overdose Outreach
We follow up within 24–72 hours after an overdose to offer support, share resources, and simply be there.
  • Recovery Self-Care Bags
We provide Narcan, fentanyl test strips, hygiene supplies, and comfort items to support the journey ahead.
  • Transportation Assistance
Through our Rides for Recovery program, we help eliminate barriers to treatment and recovery services.
  • Naloxone Education & Distribution
We offer training and access to lifesaving Narcan to individuals and families in need.
  • Trauma-Informed & Culturally Responsive Care
Our team is trained to provide care that honors each person’s identity, history, and needs.
  • Peer Support & Recovery Navigation
From housing to treatment to support groups—our peers walk alongside individuals as they take the next steps toward healing.
  • Post-Overdose Support Line: Compassionate connection to support. After-hours calls returned next business day.
  • Recovery Self-Care Bags: Supplying Narcan, fentanyl test strips, and hygiene products to survivors.
